Bring Your Own Device

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​The ‘Bring Your Own Device’ (BYOD) program allows parents and carers to provide students with a family-owned device or purchase a new device of their choice that meets the minimum requirements of the school.  BYOD is an efficient and effective way of ensuring as many students as possible can take advantage of a personal device for learning.  

BYOD is integrated across all year levels as a core priority. This has allowed students and teachers to use a range of technology as outlined in our vision for computers and the internet at Centenary.

Our Responsible School Behaviour Policy clearly states that students are responsible for caring for and maintaining their BYOD devices, ensuring they are ready to be used when needed. We expect students to: 

  • Bring their device to school each day 

  • Ensure that it is fully charged and ready to last all day 

  • Have the appropriate software to meet the requirements of their subjects 

  • Contact the IT support team, available in the Resource Centre before, during and after school, whenever they need help meeting the above requirements.

For families that need assistance to provide a device, we have the equity and daily loan schemes available. For more information, please contact helpdesk@centenaryshs.eq.edu.au.

Recommended devices

We highly recommend Windows 11 laptops, for all year levels. See the BYOD buying guide for parents and carers for detailed information about device requirements for our BYOD program.  

We have also prepared information and recommendations about non-Windows devices for parents/carers considering other platforms. 

The school has arranged a purchasing portal with LWT (Learning with Technology) which has a range of recommended devices listed. Parents/Carers have the option to purchase a device through this portal or devices can be purchased from other sources.

BYOD support for parents/carers and students

For students, please check the student intranet regularly for a range of ICT support guides and your student email for updates. 

Parents/carers and students, to access support from our IT team, please send an email to helpdesk@centenaryshs.eq.edu.au​, including any appropriate screenshots and error messages. This will log a job straight into our helpdesk system and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
