At Centenary State High School, we believe that developing student leaders and establishing positive models of student governance is of absolute importance. Our innovative and diverse leadership model provides opportunities for a variety of students to undertake leadership roles within the school.
We have implemented a system that provides students with a sense of empowerment, ownership and responsibility in school matters. In providing a variety of leadership avenues and skill development, all students have the opportunity to develop their leadership potential.
Our Student Leaders Forum consists of the School Captains from Year 12 and Year 9, as representatives of both our Senior and Junior Schools and also consists of four elected representatives from each year level. This group of leaders is responsible for school wide decision making processes. Students are involved in various committees, designed to tackle the many hands-on projects that emerge throughout the year.
In addition to these leadership roles, we also elect First Nations Captains, Arts Captains, House Captains, International Captains, STEM Captains, a Public Speaking and Debating Captain and a Chess Captain. They help organise and run various activities within these discipline areas. The Year 12 Council is designed to provide additional support and a voice within Year 12 space, as there are more acitivites and initiatives to be brought to fruititon for their final year of schooling.
