Resource Centre

Centenary SHS’s Library or Resource Centre is an innovative and inviting space.

Students are able to use the many spaces available in a variety of ways. From reading on comfortable lounges, to utilizing student areas for study, assignment work or research, Centenary SHS’s Resource Centre is always busy.

Students are able to use a range of electronic equipment such as desktop computers, laptops, a large screen TV, kindles, tablets or the Wii. Chess is another popular activity with students borrowing sets during breaks or signing up for the yearly chess competition.

Students are encouraged to borrow from our contemporary collection of books, periodicals, databases and modern media technology. In fact, students participate in book purchases. Morning teas are offered each term where new fiction, non-fiction and graphic novels are made available for viewing. Book suppliers attend with displays and students select or recommend purchases for the library.

The Resource Centre also subscribes to a number of very useful electronic databases that students can access on or off site. These include:

EBSCO Database - Australian/New Zealand Reference Database

EBSCO Database - Literary Reference Centre

EBSCO Database - History Reference Centre

EBSCO Database - Science Reference Database

Alternatively, students can take advantage of Centenary SHS’s corporate membership with the Brisbane City Council Libraries.

It is clear why Centenary SHS’s Resource Centre is a user-friendly space designed to be frequented by students and staff alike.
