Our International Programs

Secondary schooling graduate programs

In our secondary schooling programs international students are fully integrated into our mainstream classes, studying with Australian students.

In the junior program, international students in Years 7-10 will study core subjects through the new Australian curriculum. Their core program of study will include:

  • English
  • Mathematics
  • Science
  • History and Geography
  • HPE
  • Languages - Chinese or German
  • Business
  • Applied Technologies
  • The Arts

Through Years 9 and 10, some choices of subjects are offered allowing students to begin pathway planning for senior subjects and tertiary opportunities.

In the senior program, international students in Years 11 and 12 will study towards the award of a Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) issued by the Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority (QCAA). Students with a full academic program complete semesters of study to be eligible for an Overall Position (OP). This tertiary entrance score is used for entrance to Australian universities and is internationally recognised. All Years 11 and 12 students study English and Mathematics plus three or four other subjects of their choice.

Study Abroad programs

International students join us at Centenary SHS for three, six, and nine months or the full academic year of twelve months. Students select from the full range of subjects available at that time and study with Australian students in mainstream classes.

The aim of this program is to gain further English proficiency and experience another culture. At the conclusion of their studies a report is issued, detailing subjects studied and grades achieved.

Study tours

Centenary State High School also offers school study tours, for school groups. These programs are generally of very short term (a number of weeks) and offer a combination of academic learning and cultural activities.
