Junior school

Junior Secondary at Centenary State High School

At Centenary State High School our Junior Secondary program provides quality learning, whilst supporting our students through the transition and foundation years of secondary schooling. Years 7, 8 and 9 form a distinct Junior School, focused on the learning and developmental needs of our younger students, whilst preparing them for our rich senior curriculum. When our Year 7 students enter our doors, they experience a culture with high expectations and a strong sense of belonging and support.

Academic excellence

Over 19 years Centenary State High School has forged a strong reputation in our community – a reputation for academic excellence, for teaching of the highest standard and for successful pathways for our Year 12 graduates. Quality Learning does indeed prepare our students for quality futures. We are recognised for providing a wide range of opportunities for our students, from real-life experiences in academic areas to our many extra-curricular activities. We offer extension Maths and Science, through our Excel classes, and in The Arts, through our Music Plus and Production Plus classes. Our strong links with China begin in our Mandarin Excellence classes and are forged through our annual visits of Chinese students and our school tours to China.

World class facilities

Centenary State High School's facilities are world class, particularly our wonderful Sports Centre, our Performing Arts Centre, Confucius classroom and Science laboratories. During 2014 our purpose-built junior secondary building was constructed and we worked closely with our architects to ensure these new learning areas meet the needs of junior learners, offer close and supportive contact with their teachers and provide a wide, welcoming separate space for our youngest students.

Take a tour

We will be offering school tours periodically throughout the year (please refer to the calendar). These tours allow you to see the real school in operation and meet some of the staff who will work with your students. We have posted our 2019 enrolment forms on our website and our full enrolment packages for 2020 will be distributed through local primary schools in June. Enrolment packages are also available from our office. See our "Frequently Asked Questions" for further information on our 2019 entry of Year 7 students.
