Sporting Wrap Up for 2018

​2018 District Athletics
2018 was an amazing year in Sport here at Centenary SHS. Our students committed many hours to training and their hard work paid off in Premierships and personal bests. We were also glued to the television last year watching our sporting Alumni compete on a Ntional and International scale. We look forward to building upon these successes with a bigger and better 2019!  Here is a snapshot of the past year:
·         Record number of Gala Day Teams
·         16 District Premierships won
·         Two teams reached the Grand Final at SEQ Metros (Year 10 Boys Basketball and Year 8 Girls Softball)
·         strong house competition and excellent participation
·         over 30 Met West Regional Representatives across a range of sports
·         6 top 10 Qld Athletes, including two medalists
·         4th in Intermediate Boys SEQ Nitro Athletics
·         3 teams competed at QLD All Schools Touch and also BTA Club competition (two winners @ club)
·         AFLW Girls South Brisbane Winners
·         17 school athletics records broken
·         Elite level external coaches in selected sports
·         Alumni - Grant Irvine, Gold Medalist, Commonwealth Games, Uma and Sara Nayar - NCAA Division 1 College Scholarships (USA), AFLW Player - Jordan Zanchetta
·         Special mention to the major award recipients for 2018, Michael (Pierre De Coubertin Award and Sportsperson of the Year), Jake (Sportsperson of the Year), Olivia (Junior Sportsperson of the Year), presented by Trae Williams, Australian Commonwealth Games Representative 100m (10.11 PB).
