Hospitality Assessment - Cup Cakes!


​Year 10 Students practical assessment for Hospitality unit.

The challenge was to decorate and present cupcakes on a chosen theme using various ingredients, tools and techniques. Students loved this task and their cupcakes were very impressive!

“Our class was given a very interesting task this term.  We were to decorate 6 cupcakes with fondant using a theme we chose, ours was Christmas.
There were many factors that made this task challenging and interesting but most importantly fun. The challenging aspect of the task was the time pressure we had embellishing the cupcakes as it took longer than expected to form the detailed designs we wanted to achieve.
Other than this factor, there are many features of the task that made it interesting. One of them was the new techniques we learned in designing and making the final product - working with fondant icing - colouring, kneading, rolling and moulding into various shapes. It was interesting to watch our classmates work tirelessly to create the best designs for their cupcakes. The last aspect of this task that made it unique was the fun we had planning and decorating the designs for our cupcakes.“
