Grant is off to the Rio Olympics

Grant Irvine being interviewed by HPE HOD, Mr Mills
It was great to have 2016 Rio Olympic selection, Grant Irvine (2008 Senior) on Assembly recently.  Grant was presented with a special plaque by two of our House Captains (Hayley and Tyra) to honour the fact that he is the first Olympian from Centenary SHS.

Grant will be competing in the 200m Butterfly, and 100m and 200m relays as the Butterfly swimmer in Rio.
Head of HPE, Mr Mills outlined Grant's achievements whilst at school, including four 'Principal's Cups' and five Age Championships whilst at the school.

Grant shared with the Assembly that this was his third Olympic Trials, and he had to work hard and stay focused in order to reach his goal. He said that those lessons are the same for success in any aspect of life.

Many students got photos with Grant and wished him all the best for his events in Rio.
