David - Winner of the Mathematics ICAS Competition Medal - gained the top score in Queensland in Mathematics

Centenary SHS Student Medal Winner in Mathematics ICAS Competition

Every year students at Centenary SHS undertake the International Competitions and Assessments for Schools (ICAS) Mathematics Competition conducted by the University of New South Wales (UNSW). The ICAS exam assesses students’ skills and knowledge across five strands. The strands are Algebra and Patterns, Chance and Data, Measures and Units, Number and Arithmetic, and Space and Geometry. Many of the strands have strong links between each other.

In 2017, many of our students achieved excellent results, with a number of students receiving Distinction and High Distinction certificates.
However, David, then a Year 10 student, has achieved outstanding results, gaining the top score in the state in Mathematics.
In recognition of this, David is the recipient of a UNSW medal. This is an incredible achievement and he was presented with the medal at Centenary SHS’s Investiture Ceremony on Monday 12 February. Congratulations David.
